The Bailey-Tebault House, a Greek Revival mansion located in Griffin, Georgia, was built between 1859 and 1862.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 due to its exceptional detailing and proportions.

The house features a two-story main section, one-story wings, and a four-column portico with a pediment.

The design may have been inspired by architect Minard LaFever.

Construction was delayed by the American Civil War.

As of 2018, the house is home to the Griffin/Spalding Historical Society.

St. George's Episcopal Church in Griffin, Georgia, is a historic church listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 7, 1994.

Construction began after the American Civil War and was completed in 1921.

The church's cornerstone was placed in 1869, and services started in 1871.

Over the years, the church expanded with the addition of a rectory, Grantland Memorial Parish Hall, and an Education Wing in 1962.

In 2003, St.George's merged with St.

Stephen's Episcopal Church, incorporating its altar, pews, and baptismal font.

A Children's chapel was also added.

The church celebrated its sesquicentennial in 2014.

Downtown Trick-or-Treat

Local business owners and community outreach groups line the streets of Downtown Griffin the Thursday before Halloween for an evening of spooky fun.

Children trick-or-treat from one business to the next while enjoying free activities, games, candy, and more. Costumes are encouraged.

🧁 Ingredients:

  • 1 box (3.9 oz) chocolate instant pudding mix

  • 2 cups cold milk

  • 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed

  • 1 package chocolate sandwich cookies (Oreos)

  • Gummy worms or candy bones

  • Milano cookies or vanilla wafers (for tombstones)

  • Optional: edible candy eyes, candy pumpkins

🍫 Instructions:

  1. Crush the cookies:

Place Oreos in a zip-top bag and crush them using a rolling pin until they resemble “dirt.” Set aside.

  2. Make the pudding:

In a large bowl, whisk together pudding mix and milk for 2 minutes. Let it sit for 5 minutes to thicken.

  3. Fold in whipped topping:

Gently mix in the whipped topping until smooth and creamy.

  4. Layer the dirt cups:

Spoon a layer of pudding mixture into clear cups, then add a layer of crushed cookies. Repeat layers until cups are full.

  5. Decorate:

Stick a Milano cookie “tombstone” in the top, sprinkle more cookie “dirt,” and add gummy worms crawling out.

Optional: Add candy eyes or pumpkins for extra fun!

🕸️ Tips:

  • For adults, you can flavor the pudding with a bit of coffee liqueur or espresso.

  • Serve chilled — they taste best after at least 1 hour in the fridge.

Entertainment

“Something for everyone, right here at home.”

Join us on Thursday, October 23rd in the Student Learning Center (SLC) room 104 for “pizza and a movie” as we explore the intriguing question:
What shapes us into the individuals that we are—Nature or Nurture?

The award-winning film “Three Identical Strangers” may just answer that question—or leave you with more questions.  This documentary relates the true story of identical male triplets, separated at birth, adopted by three different families, and reunited as adults.  This film confirms that reality can be far stranger than fiction and poses important questions about how we become the people we are.

This “pizza and a movie” event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
